Sony's Being a Bitch Again

We’re quite used to hearing something evil about Sony. Between screwing their customers by planting rootkits on their computers and creating a fake reviewer to up the scores of their own productions, they still have the time to bring their heinous behavior to the gaming industry as well. Sony is to publish the PS2 and PS3 versions of Ghostbusters in Europe, but they saw an opportunity to be a fucking bitch and went for it. They paid Atari to delay the release of all non-PS2 and PS3 versions of the Ghostbusters game to have a timed exclusive in Europe.
Look, we all want to make money, especially huge corporations, but they’re going about it the wrong way. All they’re really doing is robbing Terminal Reality, Red Fly Studios and Zen Studios of their hard earned sales… well, maybe Zen Studios not so much, they’re making the DS version and it’ll very likely blow salty rhino balls, but still. Allow me to elaborate on this.
Upcoming June is the best month ever to release anything related to Ghostbusters, seeing as it is the twenty-fifth anniversary of this franchise. You as a developer want your game to make as much money since developing games isn’t something that’ll make you rich beyond your silliest dreams, unless you’re the head honcho of the team. So this month is perfect for the release of your Ghostbusters game. But there goes Sony, sticking a wad of cash into Atari’s hands, and screwed be the developer who won’t see a dime of that money.
What does Sony think to accomplish with this? I mean, I love the Ghostbusters as much as the next geek. If I had to choose to have sex with Charlize Theron once or be an actual Ghostbuster the rest of my life, busting actual ghosts, then I had to turn down one of the most beautiful women in the world (and let’s be honest, once I’m ridding the world of spiritual evil I can tap all kinds of ass). Still, I don’t think the Ghostbusters are going to be that much of a deal-maker for gamers that it’ll force them to buy a PS3. And it only shows how desperate Sony is for having some sort of an exclusive.
But let’s not forget about Atari being the goddamn whore that they are. They arranged this deal without even the slightest bit of consent from the developers, who, rightly so, are fucking pissed. And when the deal was made public, Jim Wilson of Atari said “Atari is committed to maximizing the launch of the Ghostbusters videogame across Europe.” No you’re not, you treacherous snake. You’re taking Sony’s load in your mouth and spitting it back into our faces, cloaked in some marketing fairytale that attempts to make the Sony-semen appear like liquid awesomeness.
Jim Wilson followed this statement by saying “In partnership with both Sony Pictures Consumer Products Inc. and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, we have a unique opportunity to add new game products and expand marketing opportunities to reach Ghostbusters fans in Europe.” That means “open wide, bitches.”
